SQL Server Extended Events can be used to gather a wide range of performance information, and in troubleshooting in SQL Server.  Extended Events use less system resources and provide better information than SQL Profiler and they allow for correlation of SQL Server event data along side of OS or Application event data. This presentation will explore what Extended Events are, how to set them up and use them in several case studies.

Janis Griffin has over 25 years of DBA experience including design, development and implementations of many critical database applications. Before coming to Confio over 6 years ago, Janis held DBA positions working with both real-time network routing databases and OLTP business to business applications.  As a Principal Architect and Senior Manager, Janis has mentored many other DBAs on best practices in database performance tuning.
